Our concern? He has gained exactly NOTHING. He lost 80 grams in the hospital, gained it back within two days & we thought things were good.
The past few days however have not been the best. He was only feeding for 3 or 4 minutes a side, and then, power chucking it all back up. Thankfully that seems to have stopped in the last 40 hours. Another concern is that 14 day old babies are not supposed to sleep for 9 hours at a stretch. Last night was 7 hours before Tori woke him.
The midwife came for another checkup today. Last Thursday Jacob weighed 3.54kgs (7lb13), today he weighs 3.54kgs. She then announced that babies don't gain weight due to two reasons. One being a heart murmur, the other being a urinary infection. Hmmm, since he is peeing & pooping like a champion we can rule that out. As for the heart murmur, well, given the fact that his heart kept stopping while in utero, and skipping a few beats, I guess our money would be on that.
Still, we are more than grateful for the joy he has brought to us so far. So whatever happens, happens & hopefully will be sorted out in due course.
